The CompTIA Network+ certification is the sign of a competent networking professional. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification that proves a technician’s competency in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing and configuring basic network infrastructure. This non-credit continuing education course involves 40 hours of class time. In the Network+ class you will learn earn about networking design from historical CoAx cable to modern fiber optics. Hands on experience combined with in-class and self study will prepare you to pass the multiple choice exam required to become Network+ (2009) certified.

CompTIA Network+ (N10-004) exam verifies that the successful candidate has the important knowledge and skills necessary to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install, operate and configure basic network infrastructure, describe networking technologies, basic design principles, and adhere to wiring standards and use testing tools. Pass the 100 question multiple choice exam and you are certified.

Network+ is offered both during the day and evening to handle busy schedules. You can also schedule a group of six or more students and choose the class dates/times.

A+ training and certification is recommended but not required before CompTIA Network+ and Security+ training and certification. Successful certification candidates should have at least 9 to 12 months of work experience in IT networking.

The CompTIA Server+ (2009 Edition) certification is a validation of “foundation” level server skills and knowledge, and is used by organizations and IT professionals around the globe including the Department of Defense. Server+ certification validates the knowledge of individuals to design, develop, implement, and integrate systems and servers in a secure network environment. The exam covers a wide range of topics including RAID, network data storage, virtualization, disaster recovery and security procedures.

This 40 hour continuing education class will build upon your existing skills with concepts that will help you on the job in dealing with server technologies. You will learn about advanced server technology including hardware, software, data storage, redundancy, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery in a network environment. Completion of this training and the optional certification exam shows you have the knowledge and skills required for network support. Both a traditional book and online training and practice exams are included in this class.

The CompTIA® Server+® certification (SK0-003) is targeted towards IT professionals, network support technicians, and server hardware specialists having 18-24 months of experience in the information technology industry. Pass the 100 question multiple choice exam and you are certified. Hands-on experience with the installation, configuration, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of PC hardware or CompTIA A+ certification is desirable but not required.

Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNA) have the knowledge and skills to setup and configure Cisco routers and switches. This non-credit continuing education course class features more than 40 pieces of Cisco gear for ten or fewer students - so everyone gets hands-on time! Students also receive a dual-textbook set for the CCENT/ICND1 and ICND2 (combined called the CCNA). Extra lab time working with our Cisco equipment on campus is included at no extra cost.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (640-802 CCNA) exam validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size route and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. CCNA curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, understanding wireless networking and performance-based skills. Class Outline

The next 40 hour Cisco CCNA class starts Monday November 28 until Friday December 2 Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm each day.

The next 40 hour CCNA evening class will be scheduled for a group of six or more students.

A Cisco CCNA exam voucher is provided for those wishing optional certification testing after completion of the class. Follow-on CCDA, CCNP, CCSP, or VoIP classes are also available.

The Certified Wireless Network Adminstrator (CWNA) certification is a foundation level wireless LAN certification for the CWNP Program. CWNA provides the networking professional a complete foundation of knowledge for entering into or advancing in the wireless networking industry. From basic RF theory to various brands of Wi-Fi hardware, this course delivers hands-on training that will benefit the novice as well as the experienced network professional.

The University of Arizona South CWNA class covers all exam objectives including radio technologies, IEEE 802.11 regulations and standards, wireless LAN hardware and software; network design, installation and management; Wi-Fi network architecture; wireless LAN security; performing site surveys, troubleshooting and much more.

CWNA PW0-104 certification shows an in-depth knowledge of wireless network installation, administration and security. This 60 question multiple choice exam tests your ability to understand and administer any wireless LAN.

There are no class prerequisites for CWNA. Anyone can learn about how to implement and administer a wireless network. A two day advanced class focusing on wireless security and CWSP certification is available as a follow up at the University of Arizona South.

Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) concepts and how DWDM signals can use synchronous optical networking (SONET) and synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH).
