IT Security

In a world fraught with security threats, the need for skilled and knowledgeable information security professionals has never been greater. Certification by a respected accreditation organization is becoming indispensable to the information security professional. With each new advance in connectivity and convenience comes a new wave of threats to privacy and security capable of destroying a company’s reputation, violating a consumer’s privacy, compromising intellectual property, and in some cases endangering personal safety. This is why it is essential for information security professionals to stay up to date with the latest advances in technology and the new security threats they create. Let the University of Arizona South provide the IT security training to help you become certified.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - If you have at least five years of experience in information security, CISSP® training and credentials should be your next career goal.  CISSP certification from ISC² will give you the professional career acknowledgement that you need in today’s information security industry.

Quality training for the CISSP exam typically costs two-to-three times what UASCE charges, and you have TDY costs in addition! If you have the security experience and are ready to add a highly valued certification to your resume, this is the class for you - and it's local!. Most students who has taken the CISSP exam after attending UASCE CISSP training have passed.  While many students will have strengths in different areas of Information Security, very few students or security practitioners will have intimate knowledge of all ten knowledge areas of the Common Body of Knowledge [CBK] tested on the CISSP exam. This lecture based course uses one of the premier study guides for the CISSP exam to cover the ten knowledge areas and to prepare the student for the CISSP exam. The textbook also provides the student with a CD-ROM, with practice questions.

Class Outline

The next 40 hour CISSP daytime or evening review class will be scheduled for a group of six or more students

Discounted tuition of $1895 includes textbook, practice exams and other study materials. Candidates must comply with all of the requirements posted on the ISC² website to apply for and take the CISSP exam. Cost of certification is not included in this class. The 250 question paper based exam is not normally available at our Sierra Vista campus.

Although not a prerequisite, CompTIA Security+ training and certification are recommended.  Candidates must have at least five years of direct full-time security professional work experience and be approved by ISC² to become CISSP certified.

The CompTIA Security+ certification designates knowledgeable professionals in the field of security, one of the fastest-growing fields in IT. Security threats are increasing in number and severity, and the gap between the need for security professionals and qualified IT personnel is the largest of any IT specialty. Even in a troubled economy, most businesses plan to maintain or increase their investment in security. CompTIA Security+ is an international, vendor-neutral certification that proves competency in system security, network infrastructure, access control and organizational security.
Small class size and quality of materials makes Security+ one of the most popular classes at the University of Arizona South. Updated Information Assurance training is available in our Continuing Education Department evenings or during the week.

CompTIA Security+ (SY0-201) exam verifies that the successful candidate has an understanding of security policies and best practices. Certification requires a good understanding of communications and infrastructure security, cryptography, hardware and software vulnerabilities and how to protect systems and networks.  Pass the 100 question multiple choice exam and you are CompTIA certified.
